Getting all your electrical in check for this summer

PREPPING FOR SUMMER

Summer is right around the corner, and so are those heat waves we Australians are so used to where it can rise up to and above 40 degrees during the day, and have a low of 30 at night.

As the hot season approaches, it's time to prepare our homes so we can be ready for those hot summer days and nights that are fast approaching.

Here are some tips you should use to get your house ready for summer

  1. Portable air conditioners

These days with the heat slowly going up it's not enough to just have a fan in your room since all that does is push the hot air around, what you need is to invest in a portable air conditioner which can lower your desired rooms temperature to your desired level.

  1. Window shutters

If your bedroom is one that is blasted by the afternoon sun then you know all too well how impossible it is to sleep in a hot room, but did you know that window shutters can block most of that heat from the outside leaving your room cool of the night? It's a solid investment in the long run.

  1. Reduced power board use

This is a significant risk factor in the summer since we tend to overload our power boards with fans and other devices, but this can cause a lot of problems such as power surges and electrical fires, so it's best to keep them to minimal use. Also, prolonged usage of power boards can cause a room to heat up so in the summer so it's a good idea to only have the essentials plugged in.

  1. Bring out the curtains

If you have been thinking of putting up some dark curtains, then this is the time to finally do it since this will help keep rooms cooler during the day.

  1. Lose those blankets

This is a bit of an obvious one, but we should start to lose the blankets and instead replace them with thin sheets since most of us like being covered by something but don't want to be hot at night.

  1. Drink plenty of water

Becoming dehydrated is something that happens all too often in the hot weather, so keeping up your water intake will not only help you stay hydrated but will help keep your body cool.

Power surges often occur during the summer months with fans and air cons going constantly, and they can be quite alarming, but you shouldn't worry too much as M1&Co is here for you in those situations.
